Toss : Kings X1 Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl first
After invited to bat by Kings X1 Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin, Mumbai Indians batsmen were looking very confident at the beginning as Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock was brutal before Rohit Sharma knocked out by Hardus Viljoen on 32 runs. He was sooner followed by Suryakumar Yadav who scored 11 runs off 6 balls, then Yuvraj Singh along with Quinton De Kock consolidated the innings together and took the score to 120.
Mohammad Shami then struck by dismissing Quinton De Kock on 62 runs. Kieron Pollard again failed to show some resistance but Hardik Pandya was on a rampage, he scored 31 runs off 19 balls his brother Krunal Pandya also scored 10 runs off 5 balls. Yuvraj Singh was looking out of touch as he manages to score only 18 runs off 22 balls. Mumbai Indians team scored 176 runs in their 20 overs. Murugan Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for the Mumbai Indians.

In Reply, to Mumbai Indians 176 Kings X1 Punjab was looking brilliant from the first ball of the innings. Their openers K.L.Rahul and Chris Gayle provided them a 50 runs opening stand, K.L.Rahul was a little bit slow in the beginning but he took the charge on the bowling later on the innings. Mayank Agarwal, by the way, was looking like a man on a mission as he showed no mercy to the Mumbai Indians bowlers and scored 43 runs off 21 balls and changed the whole scenerio of the match. After that it the icing on the cake by K.L.Rahul and David Miller they scored unbeaten 71 and 15 runs respectively. Jasprit Bumrah wa again econimical and was the pick of the bowlers for the Mumbai Indians.
