Toss : New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl

Afghanistan Innings:

The underdogs Afghanistan again showed inexperience as a team, after getting a best possible start by Ali Zadran and Hazratullah Zazai. They added 66 runs for the first wicket. Hazratullah Zazai scored 34 runs and and Noor Ali Zadran scored 31 runs. They both got dismissed in the span of 2 deliveries. They both were followed by Rahmat Shah.

Afghanistan were 66-0 in 10 overs and suddenly it was 66-3 in 12.3 overs, this shows the lack of experience of the side playing first time in the biggest tournament of cricketing history. The skipper Gulbadin Naib also depart after scoring just 4 runs. They all became the victim of urgency and at the time of pressure they just don’t manages to keep their nerves at all.

Hashmatullah Shahidi wsas the only hope for the Afghanistan in this tournament as he looks very much mature and entire batting was just looking pathetic and poor. He also scored 79 runs off 99 balls.

James Neesham took 5 wickets and Lockie Ferguson took 4 wickets and destroyed the immature Afghani batting line up.

New Zealand Innings:

New Zealand were looking fantastic with the bat and the bowl and are looking favorites to win the world cup first time in their cricketing history.

Well in reply of Afghanistan 172 runs New Zealand never look down and out. Apart from the 1st ball duck of Martin Guptill they were just amazing throughout the match. Colin Munro is by the way struggling to some extent as he was dismissed early again on 22 runs.

The skipper Kane Williamson and and Ross taylor join the party and made the things better for the kiwis. Kane Williamson scored unbeaten 79 runs off 99 balls, whereas Ross Taylor scored 48 runs off 52 balls before he was clean bowled by Aftab Aslam.

Only good thing that was happen to the Afghanistan was the Aftab Aslam bowling. He was remarkable with the ball and took all the three wickets that were fallen.

New Zealand Score : 173-3 in 32.2 Overs

Result : New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets.
